Despite the presumption that the traditional German Shepherd Dog breed is somehow linked to wolves, this race is more closely related to wolves than any What breed of dog in the other. This race is the result of a deliberate attempt to produce the absolute pastor. This is due to the creation in 1899, an association dedicated to monitoring the German shepherd dog breeding, the Verein für Deutsche Scharferhunde, which became known worldwide as the SV (German Shepherd Society).

On April 22, 1899, shortly after von Stephanitz was obtained hörande with 10 friends and began what is now known as the Verein für Deutsche Scharferhunde or SV. Many would agree with me that is the date that can be used as day the arrival of the GSD breed.

Breeders have worked to establish a pastor who excel in various jobs where intelligence requires courage and athleticism. The GSD finally proved he was a brave and intelligent companion and protector.

When the First World War, the German shepherd dog has been used in many different ways. Could be regarded as a messenger dog, rescue dog or a watchdog, but has also been used as a watchdog. After War World These soldiers were much German shepherds back home with them.

Then, during World War II, Allied forces have taken this dog trained intensively and have traveled with them everywhere. This is already leading this race, much more popular worldwide.

At the end of World War II and more Behind it, the popularity of German shepherd dogs has increased dramatically and became the most popular story of the race. The main reasons were that no another race could master this skill set that largely German Shepherd dog breed and its attributes incredibly unique.

The race has changed names several times, mainly because after the war, the word "German" has acquired a very negative connotation. Changed for the dog-wolf, wolf, but the "Wolf Dog" part of the name also had a negative connotation and is in Alsace, and later in 1977, they finally switched back to the original, is used to date.

This breed became very popular, especially because a couple of dog movie stars: Strongheart and Rin-Tin-Tin. The GSD is the most loved and praised dog in the U.S. for many years. Although his popularity waned slightly in recent years remains one of the most versatile dogs ever created.
